About the Project

The Cole Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Cole name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Cole name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Cole's), by time period (18th Century Cole's), or by topic (Cole DNA, Cole Occupations, Cole Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

New Resource for Cole's of Pine Creek Valley Pennylvania: Pennsylvania's Pine Creek Valley and Pioneer Families
My grandmother was Christine Mary Cole of Nottinghamshire, England, a desgendent of William Cole - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cole-20981

I'd like to join the Cole one name study (with the intention of choosing English Coles in my sourcering and adding them to a Coles page. Can I still use the sticker if they are not (yet) part of my family?

I'd also like to join a Cole DNA study, in part to see if it is possible to determine William's parentage.

Best wishes,

Pat

My ancestor Benjamin Cole (1759-1813) lived in Palmyra, Wayne County New York and is buried there, however I am not sure of his birthplace or where he lived prior to New York. Some family research points to the possibility that his family came to New York from Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and possibly before that Rhode Island. I would like to join the Cole study group. Thank you!! Linda Cole George

Hi Tamara, hope you don't mind I added a profile for the Cole One Name Study page! Now there is a place for anyone interested in joining to add their name under the "Membership" category, and we can add additional research pages to keep everything organized.
I've added Sarah Jane Cole-14310

I am looking for information about the Bernard Cole Family from Castlerea, Roscommon Ireland. He was married to Catharine Ann McCormack. Catherine and their children immigrated to America but Bernard died before the trip. I can not find any additional information going back to Bernards Parents or Siblings. Thanks!
